Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to this website: Visit Antrim and Newtownabbey.
This website is run by Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- some images and links do not have meaningful alternative text or accessible names, and some images use the file name instead of a description
- some headings are empty or structured incorrectly, which may be confusing for screen reader users
- some tables are not marked up with headers or identified in a way that makes sense for assistive technology
- some form fields and buttons do not have accessible labels, or contain blank labels, which makes them difficult to use with assistive technology
- some links are not descriptive, use general wording such as “Click here”, or contain redundant title attributes
- some elements do not meet colour contrast requirements, or rely only on colour to indicate links
- some larger tables can break the layout on smaller screens, causing horizontal scrolling
- embedded Google Maps are not fully accessible to screen readers
- some card components may be missing headings, which makes them harder to navigate with assistive technology
