Antrim Castle Gardens embarked on a £6.5 million restoration scheme, following confirmation of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant in 2008. Implementation of the works programme commenced in late 2009 through a series of enabling contracts and these were followed by commencement of main contract works in August 2010. The main contract was divided into 3 distinct sections with a phased programme for completion.

The Gardens were officially reopened by Lord Massereene on 12th March 2015.
Antrim Castle Gardens also received funding from the Enkalon Foundation, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Environment Agency and Antrim Borough Council.
